Urban Mole’s a site of city fables, gathered and told by me.
They’re all true. The people and places are real, the buildings, the events. The fable aspect relates to my subjective experience, the warp and weft of story.
If you live here (currently Leipzig, Germany), you’ll recognise a few things and discover much that’s new. You know the stage and maybe some of the players, but not the plays.
If you don’t live here, you’ll recognise a few things. If you’re human, you’ve common ground.
Read on to let off steam, unwind, and joyride someone’s life vicariously. There’ll be occasional essays too, longer in form and less light in tone, but you can skip these if you’re all about the feels.
If that’s not enough ‘about’, I suspect you’re here for ‘why’. For the following reasons then. Because:
- I’m curious. I want to connect to the people and places around me.
- I want to keep my senses keen, to keep on seeing (Mind’s Eye work).
- to experience is to be; to shape that experience is to become. (Pithy, n’est-ce pas ?)
I’m Homo narrans. Story’s my soul.

A word about the old Mole (2016-2020)
If you’ve glanced at the archive of posts from this period, you’ve likely noticed that they’re rather different. To discover why this is, read the old ‘About’ section here.
